Marvel on Tuesday dropped the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the highly anticipated first film in Phase Six of the MCU, which is slated to hit theaters on July 25.
Starring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, the new Fantastic Four film’s plot has been kept under wraps up until now. But it’s believed to see the superhero team go to war with Galactus, the supervillain voiced by Ralph Ineson, as well as Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner.
Set in an alternate version of the 1960s, the film shot overseas last year from July through November, with production kicking off following the tease of some early art at San Diego Comic-Con. Others in the cast include Paul Walter-Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne and Sarah Niles, whose roles haven’t yet been disclosed. WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman directed from a script by Ric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, with Kevin Feige producing for Marvel Studios.
In an interview last year on The Official Marvel Podcast, Marvel chief Feige teased that he was “extremely excited” about the project given that the Fantastic Four are “legendary pillars of the Marvel Universe that we’ve never gotten to play with or explore in any significant way apart from [Doctor Strange in the] Multiverse of Madness and a few fun teases before, in the way we’re doing [in this] film.”
Coming off of the $1.3B+ global box office gross of Deadpool & Wolverine, which last summer surpassed Joker as the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, Marvel will ahead of the new Fantastic Four unveil Captain America: Brave New World on February 14 and Thunderbolts* on May 2nd. Currently, the studio’s film slate also includes Avengers: Doomsday (May 1, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027)- both, to be directed and produced by the Russo Brothers, as revealed at Comic-Con 2024. There’s also the new Spider-Man film from Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton, which premieres between those two titles, on July 24, 2026.
