A peculiar Volkswagen is causing a stir among car enthusiasts: the Geparda, derived from the Volkswagen Up!

Designed for young people in Germany who want to drive as soon as possible, this hatchback undergoes modifications and becomes a tricycle, although incorrectly categorized as one due to the presence of an additional rear wheel.

The company behind Geparda claims to have modified the chassis to improve the car’s stability after installing the unusual rear axle, including a stabilizer and modified springs.

Equipped with a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, the Geparda offers a modest 20 horsepower, a significant drop from the original options of 59 or 74 horsepower. Despite this, the vehicle can reach about 100 km/h.

The Geparda comes with drum brakes at the rear, discs at the front, airbags, ABS, and ESP, and can accommodate up to four people. With a price of about $21,650, the company has already started delivering the first vehicles, offering an alternative for young people eager to drive.
